Openlands is partnering with ComEd to administer the ComEd Green Region Program. Recognizing that open space in our communities is crucial to the quality of our lives, ComEd has committed to supporting public agencies of northern Illinois in ComEd’s service territory with their ongoing efforts to protect or improve public spaces for the benefit of all. ComEd designed the ComEd Green Region Program to assist local communities in these efforts by providing funding for some expenses towards these goals. Underlying the program is ComEd’s endorsement of deliberate planning for open space protection as a means to encourage the wisest use of scarce resources. Grants of up to $10,000 support projects that focus on planning, acquisition, and improvements to local parks and recreation resources. Grant recipients can use ComEd Green Region grants in combination with other funding sources to cover a portion of the expenses associated with developing and/or supporting their open space programs. The 2020 grants cycle will again feature a special program focus on pollinator conservation . Visit www.openlands.org/greenregion to learn more about the 2020 ComEd Green Region Program. All grant funds must be fully expended within 18 months of receipt of funds. Grantees may upload supplementary documents as attachments to this grant report, to help reviewers understand the full scope of a project's implementation and impact. Please label all supplementary documents as "Attachment" and include the number of the question related to the attachment. For example, a supplementary document for Question 4 should be labeled "Attachment 4."
